Until very recently, there were no standardised methods or tools in place that could consistently evaluate the quality of a translated document. Every translation agency seemed to implement their own translation quality control system without any reference to external benchmarking.

It was only towards the beginning of the 2000s that some professional translation bodies, in collaboration with European quality standards organisations, began to draft a set of universal guidelines that were to apply to the translation industry. Although by that time LinguaVox S.L. had only been recently founded, our agency did not hesitate to implement the necessary measures in order to comply with the new quality standards.

At LinguaVox we do not consider that measuring and delivering quality has to be an elusive or ambiguous process. Without any doubt, our clients have very definite expectations as to what quality means every time they entrust a translation project to us. We certainly take our clients’ expectations into account, and we treat every project as a unique opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to delivering the highest possible quality. We take a three-fold approach to quality control. By incorporating external quality benchmarks and internal quality checks, our triple quality guarantee stands out as a promise to you, the client, thanks to which you can rest assured that you will receive a flawless service every time you contact us.

The three elements of our quality guarantee are as follows:

1. ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management System

ISO 9001:2008 Certified Quality Management SystemLinguaVox is a translation agency certified according to ISO 9001:2008. ISO 9001 international standards do not only set the quality criteria for translation agencies, but in fact, they are applicable to every industry. As such, they consist of a comprehensive list of requirements that concern the total quality management system of a given company.

2. UNE EN-15038 Certified Translation Services

EN 15038 Certified Translation Services companyLinguaVox is a translation agency certified according to UNE EN-15038:2008 standards.

This set of standards was specifically designed having the translation industry in mind. Therefore, they are industry-specific, and any professional translation agency must be able to comply with the guidelines therein stipulated. EN-15038 certification guarantees quality by ensuring that translation firms comply with the following:

Firstly, there are specific professional competences that translators must possess. At least, they should meet one of these criteria:

a) a recognised university qualification in Translation,

b) a recognised university qualification in other subject plus 2 years of verifiable experience as full-time translators, and

c) a minimum of 5 years’ experience as professional translators.

Secondly, it is stipulated that every translation project must consist of a translation and a revision stage. Additional stages of the process include review and proofreading.

The European EN 15038 quality standard will soon become an international standard for translation service providers: ISO 17100. We hope to get certified to ISO 17100 immediately after the publication of the standard.

3. Internal quality checks by senior linguists

LinguaVox guarantees that, in addition to the above, every translation will be subject to further quality checks performed by our senior project managers, who have specialised studies in Translation at Masters level or above and more than 8 years’ experience working as in-house linguists in charge of translation quality control.

Every aspect concerning the quality of your translation will be verified by our project managers, from grammar and spelling to the delivery format.
